Drostanolone Propionate (Masteron, Mastron) is an anabolic steroid derived from Dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Specifically, it is a DHT that has been structurally modified by the addition of a methyl group at the carbon 2 position. This protects the steroid from metabolic breakdown by the 3-Hydroxysteroid Dehydrogenase enzyme, which is found in the muscles. The methylation also significantly increases the steroid’s anabolic potential.
